Dementia Friendly Meeting Centre Spaces in Fife

STAND delivers Dementia Friendly Meeting Centre Spaces (DFMCS) across Fife.  These groups are open to people who are affected by changes to their memory and day to day functioning.  The groups are led by people living with a diagnosis of dementia and their families and friends, supported by workers and volunteers.

Groups meet weekly and are for you if you are:

  • worried about your memory and think you may be developing dementia
  • worried about a family member or friend who is struggling with memory
  • being investigated for changes to your memory and day to day functioning
  • diagnosed with dementia and are waiting for Post Diagnostic Support
  • in the mild to moderate stages of dementia
  • actively supporting someone who has a diagnosis of dementia

The groups offer:

  • time to meet and chat with other people in a similar situation over a cuppa and some food
  • an opportunity to talk to your peers, workers and volunteers and to find out what services and support might be available to you
  • a chance to join in with fun and creative activities that will help you to stay well and keep your brain active

To attend the DFMCS you need to be able to look after yourself.  If this is not possible, you need to bring someone with you who can support you.

The DFMCS are free, however donations towards food and refreshments would be welcomed.

DMFCS do not need to be registered as they do not provide personal care, support with taking medication or have formal care plans in place for the people who attend.
